At Harvard Maintenance, safety is not just a priority—it’s a core value that is deeply ingrained in every aspect of our operations. As a leading provider of building services, we understand that the well-being of our employees and the quality of our services depend on a strong commitment to safety. This commitment is reflected in our comprehensive safety program, which is designed to ensure that every team member works in a safe and secure environment, in turn, ensuring the safety and security of the facilities we service.

A Culture of Safety

We know visible leadership commitment is critical to establishing and sustaining a culture of safety, that safety must be woven into our daily operations at every level. This is why our most senior safety professional, Chadwick Burns, is an integral part of the Harvard Leadership team. His role ensures that safety is always top of mind at the highest levels of our organization. Additionally, each region we serve has a dedicated safety leader, making safety an essential part of our processes and procedures across each facility we service.

Safety at Every Step

Safety is integrated into every phase of our operations, starting from the moment we onboard new accounts. A safety manager is involved in the onboarding process to ensure that all safety protocols are understood and implemented from day one. Our safety managers also conduct proactive site walks and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and addressing them before they can lead to incidents. Safety leaders and account supervisors observe and coach our cleaners as they perform their daily tasks, ensuring that all safe behaviors are being demonstrated, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Comprehensive Training and Education Communication

Employee training and education are critical components of a culture of safety. Harvard’s safety professionals develop and administer targeted training programs to address safety risks and monitor both leading and lagging indicators for continuous improvement.

Safety is a daily topic at every worksite at Harvard, our operations leaders engage with field employees with daily safety tips to updated training modules, including required topics such as hazard communication and emergency action. Weekly Toolbox Talks and monthly safety topics are delivered by site managers and supervisors. Each facility also maintains safety reference materials, which are readily available for on-the-spot training when needed.

At Harvard Maintenance, safety is more than a set of guidelines—it is a fundamental part of who we are. By embedding safety into every aspect of our operations, we not only protect our employees but also ensure the highest quality of service for our clients.
